
Steven A. Kanner was a founding partner at JJLM with over 30 years of experience in complex antitrust litigation. He previously led the class action practice at Much Shelist Freed and has experience across investigation, discovery, trial and appeal of antitrust, securities, and other complex cases.
Mr. Kanner held leadership roles in many major class actions. He was appointed by federal and state courts as co-lead counsel in a broad array of cases resulting in recoveries of hundreds of millions of dollars, including In re Automotive Parts Antitrust Litigation, In re Aftermarket Filters Antitrust Litigation, In re Carbon Dioxide Antitrust Litigation, In re Flat Glass Antitrust Litigation, (No. II), In re Hydrogen Peroxide Antitrust Litigation, In re Isostatic Graphite Antitrust Litigation, In re Koch Gathering Systems, Inc. Oil Spill Litigation, and In re Texas Bread Antitrust Litigation.
Mr. Kanner earned his J.D. from DePaul University Law School and was admitted to the Illinois Bar, the Northern District of Illinois trial bar, multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He was recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer by Chicago Magazine and lectured extensively on antitrust and trade regulation, both domestically and internationally. Prior to entering private practice, he served as a consumer affairs specialist at the Federal Trade Commission.
After a distinguished career in complex litigation, Mr. Kanner retired from the firm at the end of 2025.
